The skyline and the
horizons of a nation’s vastness in historical greatness are renewed by tales of
its every passing legend or a legacy. The horizon of old is not too far in the
distant, as is the same with the new horizon, it is always floating in the
meanwhile.
As the nation celebrates
the birth anniversary of His Majesty the King, every citizen young and old does
so, collectively with prayers and wishes in their hearts, looking forward
bravely to the unfolding future, while at the same time recounting and reliving
the glorious history when the great ancestral lineage rose to its monumental
high.
As we celebrate His
Majesty today on his birth anniversary, we express heartfelt gratitude for
leading a country, not entirely familiar with a new system of democracy through
and through, wisely, safely and fruitfully to achieve the noble aspiration of
His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo.
So it will be that, we
also look at the father of this nation (drinchen gi pham), as reiterated by His
Majesty the king time and again.
As we hail His Majesty’s
name today, we also pay tribute to the greatness of His Majesty Jigme Singye
Wangchuck, who gave the nation its great philosophy of Gross National Happiness
and a most visionary, compassionate and enlightened ruler in the great persona
of His Majesty the King.
Today, the nation of once-upon-a-self-imposed-isolation
time, landlocked and devoid of advanced opportunities for modern development
time is raring to go and in the same league as that of any nation potentially
launched for greatness.
A country that is nearly
invisible on the global map is well acclaimed and is taking into strides global
recognition on its own terms, all the while flaunting a culture that has been
retained in its precious and original mold.
The nation’s great
monarchs have thereby guaranteed identity for the country and its people, which
is all their own and unique for the world outside. The small nation therefore
has never lost itself among a sea of giant nations.
Likewise, for every
unknown change brewing for the country, the whole nation looks up to our great
monarchs for wisdom and guidance, knowing that there is no dearth of solace
that will shine back on one and all.
Today, the nation rejoices
its glorious monarchs, past and present; today the nation relives every great
turn in history where the country came out supreme in standing out as a shining
example for the rest of the world;
Today the nation
celebrates the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar
Namgyel Wangchuck.
Long Live His Majesty the
King!
